Since being founded in 2005, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival has expanded to become one of Australia’s most significant live music events.
Having grown to multiple Oz cities as well as New Zealand, Singapore and even the US, last year’s events played host to the likes of Beach House, DMA’s, Grimes, Vince Staples and Flume.
‘St. Jerome’ is in fact Jerome Borazio, the co-founder of Laneway.
The event’s parent is the sumptuously named Lunatic Entertainment, which also works on a management basis with artists such as Gotye, Chvrches and The Temper Trap.
We asked the key players at the company what they love about their job…

What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment?
Running a festival with my best mate makes the whole thing pretty cool in my eyes outside of that was watching my Dad grace the stage with his band in Melbourne and Sydney!
* What does Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
It’s challenging and high pressure but the friendships,the experiences and the continual evolution means laneway will always be a big part of my life.
* What do you hope to achieve at Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment in the future?
Of course striving for continual improvement is always in front of us – It’s something the team really thrives on.
Whilst we have aligned with various charities we’d like to extend our influence to build a greater social platforms and look at the bigger issues, like sustainability.

* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment?
Many many cool things have happened. The best thing to ever happen was to open up the business. I was on the dole and did a NEIS course to help me get a small business started. That was one of the beginnings… the coolest thing is when you take a chance on someone or someone takes a chance on you.
* What does Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
It’s as much about people as it is music. We’ve been blessed to work with so many incredible people from all walks of life
* What do you hope to achieve at Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment in the future?
A place that teaches young people to care about what they do and to have empathy

* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment?
Where on earth does one start when every other day is attending a show or traveling somewhere interesting?
I feel very privileged to work in a place with such a varied and diverse offering on a daily basis so it’s hard to narrow it down to one thing so I’ll offer up two.
- Every year at Laneway we’re lucky enough to host a bunch of bands from around the world for two weeks across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Getting to stand side of stage and watch these incredible artists play their hearts out never gets old…
- Inadvertently sitting next to Gotye’s girlfriend at the time at the ARIAs the year he won pretty much every award and ending up on TV way too much.
* What does Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
It means a great deal. Getting to come to a job that for all intents and purposes doesn’t feel like a job, with such amazing people who have become like family, really makes life pretty easy. I’m proud to work here because we count some incredible artists (Gotye, CHVRCHES, The Temper Trap, DD Dumbo, Mansionair, Dreller) as clients and run one of the better music festivals in the world.
* What do you hope to achieve at Laneway/Lunatic Entertainment in the future?
Continue to progress in the industry, forging strong relationships around the world, increasing knowledge every day, picking up another super exciting management act or two and maybe living abroad for a minute.
