Despite only launching in 2012, London-based Inside/Out has grown to be one of the UK’s most prominent and respected publicity palaces.
It works with a wide variety of artists ranging from impressive to hip and just plain massive.
Clients include global megastars such as Lady Gaga, Kelis and Janet Jackson as well as gonna-bes such as Drenge (pictured), Summer Camp and Walking On Cars.
The Independent Echo caught up with their team to ask what it’s like to spend their days at Inside/Out HQ…
Chloe Melick – Director
* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Inside/Out?
The point where when we moved from outstaying our welcome rinsing free wi-fi at various East London cafes to actually setting up an office was pretty cool. It also really helped with caffeine intake.
* What does Inside/Out mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
Adrian and I started Inside/Out because we believed that working with artists we genuinely love and respect really means something. Four years later we have a team of really great people working with us and a roster that speaks for itself.
* What do you hope to achieve at the company in the future?
I’d like to see us continue our tradition of working with and helping break brilliant British artists and representing some of the most exciting international acts on the planet.

* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Inside/Out?
Getting the company up and running in the first place was pretty special. More recently, putting together and sitting in on a Sunday Times Culture feature with Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke and the award-winning author Hanif Kureishi was really great.
* What does Inside/Out mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
Outside of my family, the company literally means everything to me. Without wanting to sound too corny it’s the thing that i’m most proud of in my working life thus far. I probably do need to get some hobbies though, to be honest.
* What do you hope to achieve at the company in the future?
To keep doing what we’re doing. We work exclusively with artists that we admire and respect. It sometimes feels like there’s a lot of doom and gloom in the music industry, but i hope we’re working proof that you can do a great job, enjoy what you’re doing, and maybe even get paid for it.

* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Inside/Out?
Seeing Hudson Mohawke play a parking garage on Upper Street courtesy of Red Bull.
* What does Inside/Out mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
Inside/Out has an awesome roster of artists, which is exactly why I came to work with Chloe and Adrian. I love having The Haxan Cloak next to Lady Gaga on our website. He loves it too.
* What do you hope to achieve at the company in the future?
Figure out how to link my computer to the stereo.
Joe Parry – Senior Publicist
* What’s the coolest things that’s ever happened to you at Inside/Out?
Having only worked at Inside/Out for about a month so far, I’d have to say that getting the job is cool in itself. If ever you mention the company to people, they always have good words to say about the guys that work here, so I hope by association people might incorrectly assume that I’m cool too.
* What does Inside/Out meant to you and why are you proud to work there?
Inside/Out has probably one of the most diverse rosters of any independent PR company, but one thing that ties them together is the quality. No matter the genre, the artists Inside/Out work with are of an incredible calibre, which is why each year so many acclaimed albums are worked from the Inside/Out office.I’m proud to work for a company with great ideals and integrity.
* What do you hope to achieve at the company in the future?
I’d like to make my own mark on the company, with a wealth of acts that I love. I’d like to help some brand new bands get to the next stage in their careers, whilst helping to progress the careers of some excellent established artists.
Elspeth Merry – Publicist
* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Inside/Out?
Seeing alt-J play to 20k at the O2, attending the first Janet Jackson comeback meeting, and Sufjan Stevens beating me to the carvery in catering at End of the Road.
* What does Inside/Out mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
In the music industry reputation is everything, and Inside/Out leave echoes of “they’re so good, they’re so much fun, #PRbants” wherever I go. As my first proper job in music, being lead by two of the greats has been wonderful and wild. Chloe and Adrian create a culture that ripples, a culture that is just plain, cool.
* What do you hope to achieve at the company in the future?
Work with an artist who is plucked from the unknown and eventually defines a generation. Longevity and seeing something from start to end is very important to me, you could say from Inside/Out.
