Senior Accountant Germany (f/m/x)

The role

The [PIAS] Finance Department consists of over 35 employees, spread across various offices in Europe, with headquarters in Brussels and London. We are looking for a Senior Accountant for permanent employment in Hamburg.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the local financial accounting of 2 companies. You report to the Finance Director BNL/GE/Other EU (based in Brussels).

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Accounting
    • Responsible for the accounting of 2 companies
      • Incoming and outgoing invoices
      • Control and booking of travel costs and expenses (in collaboration with the Controlling team)
      • Bank and cash bookings
      • Responsible for appropriate recharges of operating costs
      • Intercompany invoices
      • Preparatory month-end closing and year-end closing entries


    • Prepare VAT return, recapitulative statement and statistics
    • Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with (HGB)
    • Coordination of payroll accounting (in cooperation with an external agency)
    • Intercompany reconciliation
    • Accounts receivable and payable management and Credit Control
    • Preparation of payments and Cash flow needs
    • Key contact for (internal / external) financial and tax queries (e.g. the Federal Statistical Office, tax consultants, banks, etc.)
    • Manage relationships with clients and suppliers



    Other tasks:


    • Link with the Business Controller for all reporting requests (Budget, Sales, Overheads, Marketing)
    • Support Finance Team in ad-hoc projects
    • Continuous improvement of accounting processes
    • HR administration



Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (Bachelor degree as a minimum) :“Bilanzbuchhalter“ or similar
  • Experience of minimum 5 years in a similar function
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar position
  • Analytical, organized, methodical with good attention to detail
  • Can-do attitude, pro-active and hands-on approach
  • Experience in the music industry would be an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting according to HGB
  • Very good office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and accounting software (knowledge of Netsuite is an asset, Microsoft Dynamics GP or Abas ERP would be welcome)
  • Multitasking personality
  • Very good knowledge of German and English (written and spoken)
  • Able to cope with a fast-moving environment
  • Passionate about music
